A brief history of Bessacarr
According to the 2001 Census, Bessacarr had a population of almost 20,000 people. It sits at the south-east edge of Doncaster in South Yorkshire and it mostly consists of private residential houses. The ward of Cantley joins Bessacarr to the north-east.
Building has continued in Bessacarr since the early 1930s with apartments being the most recent developments. There are quite a few shops scattered around including a hairdressers, supermarket and bakery. Local amenities also include a dentist, doctors and pharmacy. There are a few eateries including a chinese takeaway, fish & chip shop, the flying childers pub and Punch’s hotel. The local church is St Francis of Assissi and there are three primary schools.

Things to Do in Bessacarr
Residents of Bessacarr can enjoy cycling and there is a local football club for children aged 4-18 years old.
There is also an Open Gardens event that allows people to view some interesting gardens based around Whin Hill Road. This event raised money for local charities including Doncaster foodbanks, Samaritans and the Salvation Army.
