As the brand values included handmade and high quality, I felt that the brand logo should reflect this. I gave it a personal touch by using a handwritten style typecase. The spiral beginning of the ‘O’ (the origin) reinforces the brand message as spirals symbolise growth and creation.
As there was such a large scope for expanding the Olive Hill brand, I felt that the graphic that accompanied the logo needed to be something that could be applied to all future products/activities related to Olive Hill. The olive branch that interwines ‘Olive Hill’ fits the criteria and also symbolises the undulating landscape on which the land lies. I decided that ‘Sabina’ should be done in an italian style serif typeface to emulate it’s history. The typeface is actually based on classic Roman letterforms and contrasts beautifully with the handwritten font.
The whole logo has a feeling of farmers markets which is where the target audience would frequent and I feel it explains very well about it’s history: ‘English farmers in Italy’.
